Ya’ll, my dogs are ridiculous. Sunday morning, Jay and I got up early, in order to take the dogs to the dog park before it got hot. It’s August in Austin, Texas which means 100+ degree temps through the day, and 90+ by 10:00am. I guess it was about 7:30 in the morning, and Jay was on the back porch enjoying a cup of coffee, and we were just about to tell the dogs it was time to go play at the park, when Stella starts barking her ass off.
What do I see but a hot air balloon? Nothing tortures this dog like the sight of hot air balloons.
It’s not like there were 10000 balloons like the ones in this picture. No, it was a single, yellow balloon. One we have seen about 12312321 times before. The guy must live near us, because when the weather is right, we see him and a couple of his buddies from time to time. This dog barks, stamps her feet, growls, and finally will jump up on the love seat on the porch to hide behind her daddy, trying to ensure her feet aren’t touching the ground.
Look at her face in the above photo. She’s watching that balloon so carefully, absolutely terrified that it may come back and invade her yard. Oh, and don’t think this ridiculousness only pertains to hot air balloons, because the other day, she starts barking hysterically and I look up in the sky and see this:
Anyway, the dog is crazy and apparently is not going to be a fan of attending any sort of hot air balloon festival in the future. This sort of makes me sad because I think the doodle would totally love to ride in a hot air balloon. Sadly, once she started barking at the balloon overhead, he began barking too, though he was looking all around like an idiot, trying to figure out what she was barking at.
In other news, yesterday Stella celebrated her 2nd birthday. I can’t even believe it’s been two years that we’ve had her. She’s been just the most perfect addition to our home, bringing love, happiness, and sheer joy. We had a simple celebration consisting of a couple of birthday cookies and some birthday hats:
After a bit of wrestling, we got them to wear the hats and got the birthday girl to pose with her loot:
Anyway, it was a great week, and the birthday celebrations will be continuing, because Stella’s sister Kizzy will be coming over this weekend for a play date. They’ve not seen each other since they were 12 weeks old, so we are REALLY looking forward to this.
Ya’ll have a great weekend!
